With road accidents and fatalities on Namibian roads peaking during the festive season, Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) – a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group and member of the Namibia Road Safety Forum (NRSF) – has re-affirmed its commitment to the national road safety campaign for the 2021 December holidays.

The Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group through its subsidiary, O&L Leisure, recently handed over to Oruuua Primary School a donation of snack packs prepared by Pick n Pay (a subsidiary of the O&L Group) and toiletries including soap, sanitary pads, and toothpaste, amongst other items, for their almost 200 learners as well as two beef carcases for the school’s feeding programme. The subsidy that the school receives from government is not adequate to cover all the school’s needs. This shortfall is covered by the community, parents and donors.

On 27 October 2021, the 2021 edition of the Dr. Hage Geingob Cup was officially launched in Windhoek. Traditionally taking the form of a football tournament, last year’s Cup saw football activities cancelled, primarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and event sponsors instead directing their funds towards donations to vulnerable communities across the country. This year, the Cup adopted the same approach with a total of N$ 3.45 million going towards those in need.

On 16 September 2021, Wernhil and Broll Namibia, a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, presented donations to two of their partner schools, Monte Christo Project Primary School and Dr. Abraham Iyambo Primary School, at the Teachers Resource Centre, Windhoek. The donations form part of Wernhil’s Christmas Wish List initiative for 2020, the fifth edition of the annual initiative.

On 12 October 2021, the Grade 6 and 7 learners of Peoples Primary School received new safety bibs, caps and stop signs after completing their scholar patrol training. The initiative was led by the Namibia Road Safety Forum (NRSF), with training conducted by the NAMPOL Traffic Division, and the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group joining as a partner by sponsoring the safety gear.

The Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group and the inline hockey club, Pama Golden Knights Academy (PGKA) Warriors, officially kicked off their partnership with a Neon Roller Disco on 28 May 2021 followed by the O&L Braai and Hockey Clash the following day. Both events took place at DTS Sports Club and were smaller-scale, fun ways to introduce more young people to hockey, with the latter event being opened with the handover of hockey kits sponsored by the Group. Fellow O&L subsidiaries, Pick n Pay Namibia, Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) and Hartlief also contributed refreshments, food items and prizes towards the day’s fun events.

Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL), a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, has extended its support to Namibia Drought Relief by offering its transportation services to deliver fodder to farmers across the country who have been severely impacted by the drought. NBL has started transporting the first of a series of truckloads of fodder to farmers who find themselves in dire straits.
